From a series of masks and heads, "Sharp is the Action" is a tabletop sculpture inspired by the masks and heads made throughout Oceania. Landing in the nebulous zone between ceremony and mar?al inspiration like the masks that inspired it, this piece is an armor to the world around it with the aggressive texture and warring front face. Simultaneously it displays surprise from the humanity around by a slight shift in visage. Something of a playful complacency in a suggested face is looking back at it all with the decoration on the rear. Made from a heavily grogged high-fire stoneware, the construction of this sculpture is wheel-thrown and altered, fired in a cone 10 reduction.
